Steady State Gate is a compact multimode low pass gate with a discrete design. In addition to producing the organic and unique decay response that resembles a plucked string, which is characteristic of LPG, it is also possible to modulate various tones and dynamics.

  • 6dB/octave bandpass, 6dB/octave lowpass, 12dB/octave lowpass filter modes
  • Frequency cutoff manual control and CV input
  • Resonance (Q-factor) manual control and CV input
  • Switch between three timbre circuits: wave folder, saturation, and QAOS; manual control and CV input possible.
  • Unique timbre modulation with QAOS
  • Manual and voltage-controlled decay envelopes mimicking Vactrol LPG response curves
  • Envelope output for self-patching and controlling external modules
  • The EXCITE input is an input that “plays” a low-pass gate using a gate, trigger, or external envelope.
  • EXCITE controls dynamics and plucked effect emphasis according to input level
  • Sensitive to envelope attacks up to about 50ms
  • Can be used as an independent VCF or as a standalone VCA with the treble attenuation characteristic of traditional low-pass gates

How to Use

the sound you want to gateInputPatch toExcite inputWhen you insert a trigger or short envelope into the Output, the input sound is filtered and percussively gated and output.

  • Type switchable filtercut off
  • of the envelopedecay
  • Overtone addition circuit with 3 modesStamps
  • Becomes VC resonanceQ-FACTOR

The four parameters can be controlled with sliders, knobs, and CV input, expanding the range of tones that can be shaped.

Excite input

The EXCITE input 'Strike/ping' the circuit to launch the LPG in response to a gate or trigger or an external envelope of up to 50ms. The response of this input changes in a complex manner depending on the voltage height and length (up to 50ms)dynamicThis is an input.

If not patched to Excite, VCA is open and VCF+Timber circuit is used.processorfunctions as You can still gate the sound in this case by setting the Freq slider to minimum and applying an external envelope to the Freq input.slow attackCreate the sound using this method.

Filter control

of filtercut offis 6dB/Oct bandpass,Switchable from 6dB/Oct low pass and 12dB/Oct low pass. The 6dB/Oct filtering is mild, and if you want to create a low-pass gated percussive sound without the traditional resonance feel, set it to 6dB/Oct low-pass and minimum Q-Factor.

Timbre controls

The Timbre control is a unique control that adds flavor to the original low-pass gate tone, and can be switched between three modes: wavefolder, saturation, and QAOS. Parameters can also be controlled by CV.

  • FOLD -Fold mode folds the input signal before it reaches the filter, adding harmonics to the waveform. Adding a DC offset to the input signal changes the symmetry of the waveform folding and changes the harmonic content of the processed signal. Sine waves, triangle waves, and sawtooth waves are most effective.
  • SAT- Soft-clipping overdrive boosts the overall amplitude, emphasizing the bass and saturating the high frequencies of the input signal before they reach the filter. Adding a DC offset to the input signal changes the saturation symmetry, alternately emphasizing the odd and even harmonic content of the input signal. It works best with sine, triangle, and sawtooth waves, but also adds gain to square waves.
  • QAOS - This is a unique resonance change function that changes the characteristics and operation of the Q-FACTOR circuit. At low Q-FACTOR, the effect in QAOS mode is subtle. Increasing Q-FACTOR will strengthen the effect. It is called "Q's Chaos" because the effect changes non-linearly and greatly depending on the position of the TIMBRE slider. Adding a DC offset to an input signal affects the symmetry of the input signal and the location of the resonant peaks of most waveforms. Effective with all waveform types. The behavior during self-oscillation is also distinctive.

envelope output

The envelope output (ENV OUT) can be used not only to patch to an external module, but also to apply a stronger modulation to the attack by patching it back to the Timbre, Q-FACTOR, and FREQ CV inputs of this unit.
