Super versatile, high precision, high speed lag and hold processor newly designed by Serge

Format: Eurorack
Width: 18HP
Depth: --mm
Current: 50mA @ + 12V, 50mA @ -12V

Manual PDF (English)

To protect the original signal voltage range of Serge, the signal handled by Random * Source Serge is smaller than the standard Eurorack module, which is 5V at Peak to Peak.It is not as small as the line level, but when using it with other companies' products, pass it through a signal booster or attenuator as needed.

MUSICAL FEATURES

The Serge GTO is an evolution of the Smooth & Stepped Generator (SSG), a newly redesigned dual 'lug and hold' device with a focus on stability, precision and speed. Like the SSG, the GTO consists of two sections that differ in some aspects, and the right side can be operated as the Smooth Side as well as the left side by switching the switch.

Each side features a temperature-guaranteed 20V/octave input with a frequency range of 8kHz on the left side and 1kHz on the right side, allowing you to track over 5 or 6 octaves.

On the right side there are three different sample modes which greatly expand the track and hold possibilities of the classic SSG, as well as a 'RUN' input, which the GTO can use in the following ways depending on the patch:

  • Through processor
  • Portamento
  • Oscillator
  • LFO
  • metalizer
  • Triggered step generator
  • Subharmonic generator/divider
  • VCA
  • low pass gate
  • Sample & hold
  • track and hold
  • set of comparators
  • Trigger delay
  • one-shot
  • Envelope follower
  • Quadrature function generator
  • bit crusher
  • etc ..

HOW TO USE

In the GTO, the left side acts as a lag processor (slew limiter) as a Smooth section, and the right side provides sample and hold and track and hold functions as a Stepped section. Both can also self-oscillate in cycle mode and become a 1V/Oct tracking VCO.

The Smooth section only has a Cycle switch; when Cycle is ON it oscillates a triangle wave, and when it is OFF it becomes a lag processor; its operation is simple.

The Stepped section has a Cycle switch as well as a mode switch in the middle, making its operation more complex. For normal sample and hold, use the SMPL mode (switch up), in the middle position it is in the Smooth mode like the left, and in the down position it is in the INV mode, which is the opposite of the SMPL mode.

* In Serge, the expected voltage is indicated by the color of the jack.
  • "Red" : Gate (ON: 5V)
  • White: 0V to 5V unipolar signal (DC coupling)
  • black: -2.5V-2.5VBipolar signal (AC coupling)
