Chord v2 is an all-in-one chord oscillator for bringing musical polyphony into modular systems. The four installed VCOs have many waveforms, and the skillful tuning function makes it possible to easily output the code in various ways.It is smaller in size than version 4 and has significantly improved functionality.

Chord v2では4音コードを指定して出力するコードモード(Chord)、3音のダイアトニックコードと、Leadジャックで音階を独立して指定するモノの7th出力で構成されるメロディモード(Melody)、 4つのオシレーターのピッチを1V/Octで自由に指定するフリーポリフォニック(Free Poly)モード, 4つがベースの周波数をシェアし、そこからのずれをオシレーターごとに1V/Octで指定するユニゾンポリフォニック(Unison Poly)の4つのモードがあり、Modeボタンで切り替えます。2つのポリフォニックモードではV/Oct,Lead,Voicing,Qualityが各オシレーターの1V/Oct入力になります。

Chord v2 enables polyphonic expressions with a wide range of tone options by changing the mode settings, patching according to it, and using the created chords and custom wavetables.

4 playing modes

Sets how the four oscillators that make up the chord are tuned and controlled by an external CV. By clicking the Mode button repeatedly, you can cycle through 4 modes.

Normal Mode (LED Off)

When the LED is off, it means normal mode, and 1V / Oct determines the root of the chord, and Quality (or Auto-Harmonization described later) determines the scale of the chord.

Melody Mode (Blue LED)

Change the Seventh output to a voice that can be controlled independently, and Lead In becomes the pitch control input.This voice also has the same fundamental frequency as 1V / Oct.This allows you to create a melody sequence that is independent of the chord progression.

Free Poly Mode (Green LED)

Change the panel control to a voice that can control all 4 voices completely independently as follows.

  • Coarse Knob & V / Oct In: Root pitch control
  • Fine Knob & Lead CV In: Third pitch control
  • Voicing Knob & CV In: Fifth pitch control
  • Quality Knob & CV In: Seventh pitch control

Unison Poly Mode (Teal LED)

The fundamental frequencies of the four oscillators will be the same, and each oscillator will have a separate V / Oct input to specify the offset from it.

  • V / Oct In: Root pitch control
  • Lead CV In: Third pitch control
  • Voicing CV In: Fifth pitch control
  • Quality CV In: Seventh pitch control
Automatic harmony

Diatonic codeIt can be automatically quantized (chords consisting only of scales within the major or minor scale), which is the automatic harmonization feature. Harm LED is off for no automatic harmonization, LED blue for major and LED green for minor.

Custom code

With Chord v2, 12 custom codes can be registered on the micro SD card. Press the Harm button for 3 seconds to enter the custom code mode (LED white), and specify from 12 custom codes in Quality.

To register the code in the micro SD card as text, add the following line to chord_config.txt in the SD card. CHORD_1 is Major, CHORD_2 is Minor, CHORD_3 is Dominant, and CHORD_4 is Tone Cluster.

You can also register a custom code on the main unit (Rewrite chord_config.txt so to saveA micro SD card must be inserted).Enter the custom code mode and select the code you want to replace in Quality. Hold down Harm and press Mode to enter code editor mode and the Mode LED will flash white.In this mode, the voltage to V / Oct and Lead is ignored because the registered chord sound is monitored. Set the fundamental frequency of the chord for monitoring with the Coarse knob (not registered in the chord). The Fine, Voicing, and Quality knobs determine the scales of 3rd, 5th, and 7th, respectively.If you want to quantize the chord constituent notes to 12 scales, press the Triad button so that the LED turns white.If you do not quantize, the dissonant frequencies you hear will be recorded as a code, and you can register a cluster like CHORD_4 above.

Custom wave table

waveeditCreated inCustom wave tableIs easy to use with Chord v2. Place the wavetable file (.wav file containing 256 waveforms of 64 samples) created and exported by waveedit on the top of the micro SD card. If you press the Mode button for 3 seconds, the wavetable to be used will switch from the default one to the custom wavetable, and the wavetable with 64 waveforms arranged in 8x8 will be specified by Bank and Waveform.
