Clouds is a granular processor with a twist.Unlike so-called granular samplers, Clouds focuses on real-time audio processing and texture extraction.
There are controls such as the grain position (POSITION), size (SIZE), and pitch (PITCH), and you can layer multiple grains (minimum 40) at the same time to create a thick texture. It is possible to control. An external trigger input allows the grain to be synced with an LFO or similar.
For a wide range of timbres, Clouds can vary the shape of the grain's envelope, from sharp square envelopes to smooth bell-like curves.Diffusion can also be used to further smooth out grain edges for a blurry texture.
There is also a separate "Grain Mesh" mode that automatically adjusts grain density, size, etc., to pitch-shift and time-stretch in an old-school sampler-like fashion.
Clouds offers 4 mix settings so you don't need another module to take advantage of your granular synth.
One of these four can be voltage controlled by setting.Clouds has a maximum delay time of 1 to 8 seconds, depending on the quality setting.
If you press the FREEZE button, the audio buffer will not be updated and will continue to process the current memory data for several seconds.
The LED is a VU meter of the input level. Also, since the input is disabled during Freeze, it becomes an output level meter. If it lights up to the last LED, it will clip softly.
It is also used to display the status of each setting, with red indicating the quality setting, green indicating the function assigned to the BLEND knob, and multi-color indicating the value of the Blend parameter.
A button that selects the parameter controlled by the BLEND knob and CV.You can also choose from four audio quality options.
You can save and load up to 4 types of frozen audio. Please see below for details.
On the left is the Position knob that determines where the grain will play in the audio buffer.Rotate clockwise to move the playback position further into the past. The middle knob is the Size knob that determines the grain size, and the right knob is the Pitch knob that determines the grain pitch. These two knobs return to the original frequency at the middle position.
Left is an input gain knob that varies from -18dB to 6dB.
The second from the left is the DENSITY knob.No grain occurs in the middle position.Rotate to the right to spawn grains at random times, and rotate to the left to spawn grains at regular intervals. The larger the left or right turn, the greater the overlap between the note durations of the grains.
The third knob from the left is the TEXTURE knob, which allows you to set and morph envelope curves with various grains. After the 3 o'clock position, you can get a diffuser effect that weakens the attack part of the sound.
The Blend knob controls the Blend parameter assigned a function by pressing the button to the right of the LED.Assignable functions are
A gate signal input for freezing voltage and an input jack for a trigger signal that generates a single grain. By setting the DENSITY to 1 (middle) and inputting the trigger signal here and pronouncing it, the Cloudsmicro sample playerIt will be.
Stereo input to Clouds.
CV input for each parameter.
This is a CV input that changes the grain pitch by 1V/octave.
This is an input that performs Blend control with CV.
