The Happy Nerding TriTone is a saturator-equipped EQ module consisting of three sections . Each section—high shelf, bandpass, and low shelf—has +20dB gain and 30dB reduction, and each section can process signals independently or in series via a switch . The dual knobs control frequency with the inner, thinner knob and gain with the outer, thicker knob, each with positive and negative values. The central input labeled FCV in each section is a CV input for its respective frequency control, and all three sections support independent frequency modulation via external CV.
When a modular-level signal (10Vpp) is input, saturation will begin relatively quickly when the EQ gain is turned up. If saturation is not needed and a wider range of gain is required on the positive side, attenuate the input level beforehand. When used without attenuation, the TriTone also functions as a flexible overdrive .
When the switch between sections is in the upper position, each section handles the signal independently. When the gain reduction of the upper section (high shelf) is set to the maximum value (CCW position), it functions like a low-pass filter, and conversely, when the gain reduction of the lower section (low shelf) is maximized, it functions like a high-pass filter. I will.
