The 3109 VCF/VCA is a module that implements a combination of low-pass VCF and VCA, and is built around the AS3109 VCF IC chip. The AS3109 is a modern version of the IR101 chip used in vintage Roland synthesizers such as the Jupiter series/Juno series/SH-3109.At the same time as trying to reproduce the characteristic sound of these synthesizers, this unit also has a 'Volume Drop Compensation' function that compensates for the phenomenon of ``the volume drops when the resonance value increases'' seen in filters based on IR3109. It features a built-in VCA for added versatility in large setups.The implementation of 1V/Oct tuning also allows the unit to be used as a perfect VCF keyboard tracking or VCO.
This unit is compatible with the Black Filter Coupler , a satellite module for the Black High Pass and Black Low Pass VCFs . Using the Filter Coupler, you can transform both the high-pass and low-pass filters into adjustable, CV-controlled bandpass and notch filters, similar to classic Moog systems, significantly expanding the functionality of your modular system. Note that the Black Filter Coupler is designed to work only with Erica Synths modules, so both the Black High Pass and Black Low Pass are required. To connect this unit to the Black Filter Coupler, remove the jumper on the right-hand connector labeled "COUPLER CONNECTOR" as shown in the diagram below, and connect using the 2x5 pin ribbon cable included with the Filter Coupler.
