Befaco Chopping Kinky is a voltage controllable 2-channel wave folder.

A wave folder that transforms a simple signal into a richer, more dynamic signal adds harmonic content to the waveform as opposed to a filter.This is achieved by amplifying the waveform until it begins to saturate and then folding it back to itself without clipping.The fold amount can also be controlled from the CV input for each channel.

In addition to individual channel outputs, this unit features a unique CHOPP OUT . The CHOPP OUT outputs signals A and B, which can be switched between. The CHOPP IN gate input, located between the two fold knobs, is used for switching; signal A is output when the input is greater than or equal to 0, and signal B is output when it is less than or equal to 0. If CHOP IN is not patched, the output switches each time the input signal crosses 0. CHOP IN uses AC coupling and responds only to fast-changing signals, such as audio signals. By using other waveforms from oscillators input to the wavefolder, special wave shaping effects can be achieved.
