MUSICAL FEATURES

Banshee Reach is a triangular core VCO with thru-zero frequency/phase modulation and performance-friendly features such as frequency lock to lock the value of the coarse tune knob.In addition to outputting regular analog waveforms independently, Banshee Reach has a 'Vari' output that combines a sub-octave generator with continuously variable waveform crossfading.

With hard or soft sync, digital noise modulation, PWM, and more, it also has an LFO mode, making it compact yet feature-rich.

HOW TO USE

Tuning

Like most VCOs, the Banshee Reach has coarse and fine manual tuning controls.course potentiometer I continuously varies the frequency of the output signal over a wide range, while the fine potentiometer J provides a more precise ±1 semitone control range.

Octaver button K Press (the button lights up) to activate Octave mode. The module stores the current course control frequency and the course potentiometer I to the octave switch.Fine knobs work the same as before. To return to free tuning mode, press the Octaver button K Press (the button goes out).A coarse knob has no effect on the frequency until it passes the stored frequency value (takeover by pickup).Note that the digital controls above only affect manual controls. The V/Oct and FM/PM inputs use a fully analog signal path.

Course potentiometer when Octaver mode is off I fully anti-clockwise, fine potentiometer J is set around noon, the frequency produced without applying an external voltage will be C0 (16.35 Hz).

Vari, Shape & Sub

conventional sine wave 11 ,pulse 9 , and sawtooth 10 In addition to the output of Banshee Reach, the Vari output 12 there is. The Vari output is a continuously varying waveform crossfaded with a square sub-oscillator.

Shape Potentiometer A can be used to continuously transform between sine, triangle, sawtooth and square (or pulse with jumpers on the back of the module). Shape is Shape CV input 4 and Shape CV attenuator D can be used for CV control. Shape CV input 4 is normalized to the triangle wave core of the VCO, so in the absence of the patch, its attenuator acts as a waveshaper affecting sine and triangle waves with subtly added overtones.

Variable waveform is Sub potentiometer E and CV input 8 is crossfaded with a square sub-octave generator via Sub button and LED G allows you to select a sub-octave waveform: LED off for minus 1 octave, LED on for minus 2 octaves, blinking LED for minus 2 octaves and quarter pulse width.

Frequency and Phase Modulation

Banshee Reach has 3 frequency/phase CV inputs: V/Oct  1 , thru-zero linear frequency modulation 2 , and through-zero phase modulation 3 .This last input has a dedicated attenuator (PM potentiometer F ) and the PM input 3 A unipolar Amount input that controls the amount of modulation sent to 7 .

LFO mode

Banshee Reach uses the LFO button B You can operate as an LFO by pressing .At this time, the amplitude and polarity of the LFO are displayed.Green for positive voltage and red for negative voltage.

Sync

Sync input 6 can be set to soft sync mode or hard sync mode. LFO button for 2 seconds B You can switch between the two modes by pressing .In Hard Sync mode, the Hard Sync LED  C lights up.

In hard sync mode, the Sync input 6 A rising edge received at resets the generated waveform to its starting point. In Soft Sync mode, the Sync input 6 A rising edge at inverts the generated waveform and reverses its direction.Softsync gives a softer result with fewer harmonics compared to hardsync.

Pulse Width Modulation

pulse output 9 is a PWM input 5 Provides a pulse waveform modulated by . PWM input 5 If nothing is inserted in , the pulse width will be 50%.A negative voltage reduces the pulse width by as little as 1% and a positive voltage can increase it by up to 99%.

Banshee Reach has a jumper on the back for selecting square or pulse waveforms for the Vari output.

Disorder

With its Disorder feature, Banshee Reach also acts as a unique noise source.A digital control generates a high-speed random signal that modulates the analog core. Each output sounds different and Varishape output 12 and Shape control the timbre of the generated noise. Shape  A and Sub  E Potentiometer is Vari output 12 acts on the sound produced by

Octave/Disorder button to activate Disorder mode K for a few seconds.Octaver button for free tuning mode K flashes briefly.Octaver button for octave mode K stops blinking temporarily.

Coarse knob I acts on the average frequency of the VCO and the Fine knob J affects the amount and type of random signal that modulates the analog core. All inputs work as before, so you can modulate frequency and waveform inputs.

In LFO mode, enabling Disorder adds randomness to the LFO frequency. The amount of that randomness is controlled by the Fine Potentiometer J to set.

Current state storing

Sub button at any time G You can save the state of the module by pressing and holding for 2 seconds. All LEDs will flash for 1 second to confirm the save process. This action saves the following parameters at bootup: • Sync mode • LFO mode • Sub octave type • Disorder function activation • Octaver mode (and related tuning) Coarse potentiometer by saving current state in Octaver mode I Octave changes are made based on the position of the , allowing the system to start with the same course frequency.
