MUSICAL FEATURES

The Frap Tools Masterone is the final output module of the Frap Tools CGM (Creative Mixer Series) designed for connecting Eurorack to external devices. With four independent output sections, each with a different Neutrik connector and adjustable gain level, it's suitable for a variety of studio and live setups. With no input terminals and only balanced XLR outputs and 4/1 "specifications, this unit takes the M module concept of a gateway to the outside of the Eurorack system.

  • 2x12 segment LED VU meter with peak memory function
  • 1/4 "TRS output pair with selectable output level from Line / Inst
  • Stereo / dual mono XLR output with selectable output level from Line / Mic
  • 1/4 "TRS headphone output
  • 1/4 "TRS AUX mono output with attenuator
  • Crossfader knob that allows you to take advantage of the PFL functionality of the Channel and Group modules

HOW TO USE

Masterone allows you to mix up to four groups. All groups can mix up to 4 channel modules, allowing the master to handle 8 channels. When using QSC (Quad Stereo Channel) as the channel, the largest configuration is a mixer with a total of 32 channels. In addition, by providing a headphone output that can use the PFL (pre-fader listening) function, you can make the best use of channels and groups.

XLR Balanced Stereo Outputs

The two XLR connectors provide a balanced output with an additional 2dB gain.DI boxes can be bypassed in many cases.

TRS Stereo Outputs

These 1/4 "outputs can be patched with standard TS cables for use as unbalanced outputs, or they can be connected to balanced equipment using TRS cables (routing the ground to both the ring and sleeve). By doing so, it will perform better than unbalanced output).

Attenuation Switches for Flexible Connectivity

If the two stereo output levels are too high, they can be attenuated with their respective switches. The XLR output Line / Mic switch has an attenuation of about 2 dB, and the TRS output Line / Inst switch has an attenuation of about 30 dB.

Stereo Headphones Output with Pre-Fader Listening

In the headphone section, you can monitor the master output with a separate volume knob while taking advantage of the channel and group PFL features. Turn the PFL crossfader knob toward the blue section to blend the PFL module into the master's total.

Mono Output with Attenuator

The AUX mono output is useful if you need additional monitors on stage, or if you want to run the entire system through a vintage amp for parallel processing in the studio. From this output, the total of 2 channels is provided as a TRS output with a dedicated attenuator. The attenuator can attenuate the line level by 15 dB or amplify it by 6 dB.

12-LED VU Meter with Memory

A precision VU meter monitors the amplitude of the signal from -40 to + 15dB, and the top LED shows the peak memory.

Link System

Some CGM modules can operate independently, such as QSC, but CGM maximizes its capabilities by connecting to other units to build a complex mixing console. Therefore, a new set of connection cables called the Link System is available. The Link System includes three types of cables:

  • Group to Channel Cable
  • Master to Group Cable
  • Group to Group Extension

The first step in building CGM is to connect channels to groups. The connection uses a special Group to Cannel ribbon cable with a 10-pin IDC socket to connect the two rows of pin headers on the back of the module to the two pin headers in the same position on the group board. When connected to a group, all channels share audio signals, power, and controls. Therefore, only one of the channels linked to the group is required to connect to the PSU.

Linking Masters and Groups

There are two cases where a master and group connection is required to extend the functionality of a single group or to mix further groups. There are two types of Link System parts, strips and their extensions, which are used according to the application.

Masterone ships with a Master to Group cable so you can link a group. The Master to Group cable has three IDC connectors, one for the master, one for the group, and one for extending the connection to other groups. A Group to Group Extension is required to connect two or more groups, and this cable has two IDC sockets and one IDC plug. Two more groups can be linked to the master by connecting the plug to the third MG socket. Group to Group sockets are spaced apart so that a group configuration of approximately 3 HP can be mounted, allowing up to 1 QSCs to be linked. You can concatenate more GG Extensions to add a fourth group, or connect groups with larger channel configurations (up to 2 QSCs).The Master to Group cable is not sold separately.
