MUSICAL FEATURES

Monitr is a comprehensive audio output monitoring utility for Eurorack systems.Consisting of a VCA-controlled stereo input mixer with master volume control, a VU meter and a powerful headphone section, this unit enables detailed monitoring during live performances or in the studio.

  • 2-channel stereo VCA mixer with CV control for each channel
  • Master volume control and two 2-segment VU meters
  • Headphone amplifier with independent level control with selectable cue source
  • Mute switch for system-wide muting
  • low noise. +4dB balanced line level output

HOW TO USE

Stereo VCA mixer

'IN 1'When'IN 2', Monitr's two stereo inputs are AC coupled specifications suitable for audio signals, and the R input is normalized to the L input. These input signals are amplified and mixed through a low-noise stereo VCA circuit. 'CHAN 1'When'CHAN 2', these two parameters manually adjust the level of the audio signal, 'VCA1'When'VCA2' is used as the input jack for the control voltage. Each stereo VCA has a maximum range of 10Vpp and the mixed stereo signal is buffered and passed to the master volume circuit.

master control

'VOLUMEThe 'parameter is a variable attenuator that controls the final stereo output level, this parameter can also boost the signal up to +6dB above unity gain.Output levels are visually indicated by two 4-segment VU meters, properly scaled for +2dBu professional line level outputs. For best results, keep the master signal level within +5dBu (green/yellow), with transient peaks occasionally touching +3dBu (red).Monitr can also completely silence the main output'MUTE OUTPUT' switch. This mute switch does not affect the VU meters and headphone CUE section, making it useful for adjusting volume before starting a live performance.

Headphone CUE

The circuitry in the headphone section of this unit is designed to drive a wide range of headphones for both studio monitoring and live performance. 'LEVEL'parameter is'PHONES' Used to adjust the volume of stereo headphones connected to the 'jack. The acceptable headphone impedance range is 32Ω to 600Ω.

Headphone sources can be switched with a 3-position switch, which is also convenient for cueing during live performances.' the switch is in the middle positionMSTR' is the master and is sourced from the main output signal via the VOLUME circuit, so the VOLUME parameter also affects the headphone volume. The remaining two 'CH1'When'CH2' each monitor two input signals and are not affected by VCA level settings (CHAN 2, CHAN 1, VCA2, VCA1).

note:PHONESto jackMONO cableconnected to raise the LEVEL, the excess current will be shorted directly to ground and may damage the headphone output.

balanced output

'OUT L'When'OUTR' provides a balanced line level output of the master audio signal via a 1/4" TRS jack.Commonly used for connecting to audio interfaces, mixers, amplifiers, etc., these balanced connections achieve low-noise signal transmission even when relatively long cables are used as long as the input side of the destination is also balanced. I can do it.Unbalanced TS cables can also be used, but the transmitted signal will simply be unbalanced.

Patch example

Subgroup ducking

Patch your drums or drum mix to IN 1 and any subgroup of your other audio mix to IN 2.By patching an inverted envelope voltage triggered by the drum signal to VCA2, it ducks channel 2 when the drum hits.

Stereo FX control

Patch a reverb or other time-based effect to IN 2 and a dry mix to IN 1.This makes it possible to individually control the effect amount at the output stage, and also enables CV control using the VCA1 input.More interesting results can be produced with irregularly varying voltages.
