Reseaux is a bi-directional attenuator/mixer based on the R-2R ladder principle. The top and bottom sections that can be cross-patched are identical, and inputs can become outputs and vice versa.
Reseaux has two main uses, depending on which direction you use it.With one input and multiple outputs, it creates an attenuated copy of the input, especially useful for sending to modules that do not have built-in attenuators. With one output and multiple inputs, it functions as a mixer that can handle both CV and audio, with different attenuation depending on the input jack.
A resistor ladder circuit is a primitive digital-to-analog conversion scheme using only resistors.
This process itself yields interesting results in the context of modular synthesis. When gate signals from different sources are input to 4 Out/In with different attenuation and mixed, you can create stepped sequences that can be used for modulation or pitch sequencing.
On the other hand, if you send one input signal to four different outputs, the resistor ladder acts as a series of voltage dividers.Note that it is also possible to use three Out/In as inputs and one as output, or vice versa.Different attenuations can be obtained this way.
Four different signals are scaled and mixed.
The image on the left shows the CV output resulting from mixing the four gate signals.
Outputs the input signal with four different attenuation rates.
