It is a digital VCA Mark 3 with cool features such as zero cross function.

A Digital VCA passes the audio signal through a fully analog path like a regular VCA, but the levels are controlled digitally. This makes it possible to change the amplitude without clicking, for example by waiting for the zero crossing of the input waveform before changing the amplitude.

In triggered mode, the VCA is updated only when a trigger is received. Noise circuitry added on each side provides voltage drop-free sample-and-holdIt's easy to do. If there is no input, 5V is normally connected to the attenuator, giving a 0-5V sample and hold. In bipolar mode, you can get -5V to +5V.

Both channels have a bipolar VCA mode (Polarizer), which allows the signal to be inverted when a negative CV is applied. This is also known as ring modulation, and using a zero-crossing detector can produce some very wild waveforms.
