MUSICAL FEATURES

DXG is a stereo dual low pass gate. Although it is part of the Make Noise VCA mixer family of QMMG, Optomix, RxMx, Dynamix, and Lxd, unlike its predecessors, the DXG focuses specifically on mixing stereo signals. Excellent compatibility with stereo modules such as XPO, QPAS, Morphagene, Mimeophon, and Spectraphon.

The DXG features a new low-pass gate circuit that does not use parts characteristic of classic LPG, commonly known as vactrol. The DXG's circuitry is 100% analog and was tuned over several months to meet or exceed the expectations set by every vactrol-based low-pass gate Make Noise has ever created. DXG is a completely new approach that better implements the gentle one-pole filtering of a low-pass gate, while emulating the slow decay and memory of a vactrol-based low-pass gate. This new circuit allows for the left-right consistency required for stereo use and can be an essential part of almost any modular system.

Unlike previous low pass gates created by Make Noise, all inputs and outputs of the DXG are stereo. Each set of inputs is normalized, allowing you to use the left input for a mono signal and send a copy to the left and right outputs. The auxiliary inputs are also mono-normalized as a stereo pair. These normalizations make DXG simple3 channel stereo mixerone or two channels are further used for dynamics control and note event generation. Auxiliary inputs can be used to concatenate large distributed mixes using additional DXG modules or X-PAN, Optomix, modDemix, etc.

  • The Vactrol-free design delivers the classic low-pass gate sound, but with the balance and consistency needed for true stereo.
  • Full stereo input and output for easy integration into stereo-equipped modular synthesizers.
  • The left input is internally wired for mono signals and can easily be used with mono signals.
  • The STRIKE input uses the gate signal to trigger a low-pass gate circuit, creating a "struck" sound from any gate.
  • A total stage with stereo AUX input allows you to chain multiple units together to create big mixes.
  • It is part of a distributed mix console integrated into the entire system, along with X-PAN, Optomix, XOH, etc.
  • It patches well with XPO, QPAS, Morphagene, Mimeophon, Spectraphon, etc.
