Bastl Instruments' Kompas is a 3 x 32 step probabilistic pattern navigator with a unique "traveling algorithm". Randomized patterns created by probabilities can be triggered at will by manual or external voltage changes. Once you have an organic coordinate, you can loop the pattern until you decide on your next direction.
Kompas is composed of a method different from general probability calculations. Instead of filtering a predetermined sequence, probabilities can be used to generate new loop patterns based on a chosen direction.
Trigger control can be freely controlled manually or by external CV signals, and more complex and novel patterns can be randomly generated and three trigger systems with different algorithms can be output. By intricately intertwining the knobs, external CV states, and each coordination state, you can create completely unexpected organic trigger patterns, allowing you to discover a new aspect of rhythm pattern generation with modular synths. .
