HOW TO USE
Balanced output
Xport is specifically designed for converting Eurorack audio into a professional balanced line level signal.Balanced audio is popular in professional audio applications because it is immune to noise caused by cable length, and is widely used in professional audio interfaces, mixers, patchbays, and live sound equipment.
Six 6/1" TRS JacksOUT 1-6outputs a +4 dBu scaled differential signal capable of driving long cables with high capacitive loads.A compact 6-channel layout is achieved by using a high-performance balanced line driver IC instead of a large isolation transformer.
These differential signals, or "balanced signals", are the key to noise rejection.A polarity-reversed replica is created prior to signal output. When using a TRS cable, the original signal is at the tip of the plug (Tip/T)SIGNAL +is the inverted signal on the ring (R)SIGNAL-is connected.These two signals travel on separate wires within the same cable.A balanced input inverts the inverted signal again and combines it with the original signal.Noise picked up by the cable affects both signals equally, resulting in phase cancellation andFINAL SIGNALis removed from
Signal Integrity
Xport packs 6 channels into a mere 6HP housing, but has been carefully designed to ensure that every channel circuit is completely isolated to eliminate inter-channel interference and sound leakage.Each channel circuit has an independent 0V (ground) reference from the main power connector.
6 audio inputsIN1-6accepts Eurorack-level audio signals in the ±5V (10Vpp) range.After the input signal has had its DC offset removed, it is buffered and attenuated before it reaches the line driver IC.
The signal level of each channel is visually represented by green LEDs.A red PK (Peak) LED indicates that the output signal has reached +6dBu.
important:Xport has circuitry to prevent damage if +48 V phantom power is accidentally applied from a balanced mic input, but before connectingPhantom power offMake sure that it is.
