MUSICAL FEATURES

Repression is a versatile, CV controllable comparator.

Repression compares two signals.one isInput, the other isThreshold Knob, and is added toThrash CVA value defined byThe output is the following four signals based on the result of the operation.

aboveactivates the gate when the input is above the threshold

Belowactivates the gate when the input is below the threshold

Equaleach output a trigger when the input and threshold values are equal.

Bipolaris a +/-5V version of the Above output, which is useful when using comparators for audio applications such as PWM generators and complex OSCs.

Threshold Knobrange is +/-8.2V.

Operations

Fixed threshold

This figure shows a constant threshold defined by the Threshold knob and a triangular signal going into Repression.

Repression changes the state of the output depending on the comparison of the input to the threshold voltage.

CV Controlled threshold

To jitter a fixed threshold defined by the knob, patch an attenuated CV to the Thrsh CV input. This makes the threshold behave as if it wobbles around the knob's offset.

This is just one example of VC thresholds. Experiment with Thrsh CV using step sequences and more.

Comparing Two Signals

With the Threshold knob set to the center position of 0V, the voltage into the Thrsh CV input is sent directly to the comparator's second input with no offset.

This method allows you to compare two signals.
