Instruō Dail is a compact utility that functions as a high-precision quantizer, precision adder, MIDI-to-CV interface, and USB MIDI host.
The quantizer can define scales locally or via MIDI. The USB host port connects class-compliant devices and can also provide power. It helps you easily and instantly create melodies and sequences.
As a precision adder, it is possible to offset an existing signal by any chromatic interval. A buffer input placed parallel to the quantizer engine allows for precise transposition, making it extremely useful when combined with sequencers and 1V/octave sources.
No longer are you limited to traditional quantized notes within one octave. Dail features a bipolar quantizer engine that lets you instantly execute multi-octave scales, chords, and arpeggios from your MIDI keyboard. Patterns can be precisely programmed onboard by autofilling from minor or major starting points.
Feature:
Small yet versatile, it is suitable for any system scale and provides flexibility and immediacy for your melodic needs.
Dail achieves many functions in a compact size, soProgramming / Quantizer / Precision Adder Of3 operation modesUse the switch below the slider. If you set the quantizer scale etc. in Programming mode, the settings will be reflected the moment you switch to Quantizer mode. Combining buttons and sliders with unique operations for each mode allows for both complex programming and performance.
Programming mode allows you to enable and disable the Quantizer and Precision Adder chromatically. It is also possible to select a preset scale.
The scale LED colors and their meanings in programming mode are as follows:
Valid notes in the quantizer are indicated by a lit amber LED, and button 1 changes from dark amber to bright amber when the slider is moved to that position.
Active notes in the Precision Adder are indicated by a lit white LED, and button 2 changes from dim white to bright white when the slider is moved to that position.

Valid notes on both the Quantizer and Precision Adder are indicated by a lit "soft white" indicator (a combination of amber and white LEDs). When the slider moves to the corresponding chromatic position, Button 1 and Button 2 will also change from dimly lit to brightly lit.

If a chromatic note is disabled on both the Quantizer and Precision Adder, the corresponding voltage indicator will not be lit, and Button 1 and Button 2 will change from brightly lit to dimly lit when the slider is moved to the corresponding position. to change.
scale programming
Use the slider to move to the desired chromatic note, press button 1 to enable or disable the quantizer, or button 2 to enable or disable the precision adder.
Enabling by dragging and filling scales
Hold button 1 and move the slider up or down to activate adjacent chromatic notes in the quantizer. Button 2 does the same thing for precision adders.
Programming voltages via MIDI
It is also possible to program the quantizer's scale via MIDI input. Use your MIDI controller to select and deselect notes by playing chords. Press and hold each note at the same time to activate the corresponding voltage. Hold the note and add it to the chord you're playing to turn the note on (notes must last longer than 200ms to turn on). To disable the corresponding voltage, play that note staccato (note duration must be less than 200ms).

Quantizer mode allows quantization of the signal present at the CV input. Changes made in programming mode will not take effect until Dail enters quantizer mode.
In Quantizer mode, the slider sets the Quantizer's global slew amount. The slider LED lights white and increases in brightness as the through amount increases.
Use Button 1 and Button 2 to globally offset the output voltage in octaves. Button 1 negatively offsets the quantized voltage up to 9V (9 octaves). The button lights white when an octave offset is applied. Button 2 positively offsets the quantized voltage up to 9V (9 octaves). The button lights white when an octave offset is applied. Pressing both buttons will reset the octave offset voltage to 0V.
Precision adder mode offsets the signal present at the output by chromatic steps.Changes made in programming mode will not take effect until Dail enters the Precision Adder interface.
In the Precision Adder interface, a slider sets the quantizer's global slew amount. The slider LED lights white and increases in brightness as the through amount increases.
Thru applies only to quantizer interface signals. Offsets on the Precision Adder interface are applied immediately without any throughput.
In default mode, MIDI is used to set the scale, but when you switch to MIDI-to-CV mode, Dail becomes a MIDI-to-CV interface. To enter MIDI-to-CV mode, press and hold both buttons for 2 seconds. To exit MIDI-to-CV mode, press and hold both buttons for 2 seconds.
