The ES-8 is a USB 2.0 class compliant audio interface module. With the addition of ADAT inputs and outputs, up to 12 inputs and 16 outputs are possible. Both CV and audio inputs and outputs are possible because the inputs and outputs are DC coupled, and it is directly compatible with computer-based CV generation software such as Silent Way, Max/MSP, Reaktor, CV Toolkit, zMors, Audulus, and iOS apps (although we do not sell or support these software). The ES-8 has ADAT inputs and outputs, so you can expand the output by connecting it to an ES-3 via ADAT, or expand the inputs by connecting it to an ES-6 or ES-7. Of course, you can also connect ADAT devices other than modular devices.

When not connected to USB, the ES-8 is in standalone mode instead of an audio interface, and operates as a conversion module between ADAT input and output and analog signals. This has the same functions as the ES-3 & ES-6 (excluding the number of channels), and is useful if you have an audio interface with ADAT input and output.
