X is a ring modulator that outputs from W by multiplying (ring modulation) the X input and the Y input. I am very good at analog and warm metallic ring modulation sound, and can also be used as a VCA with overdrive.

All knobs and switches are related to the X input.The final X signal (the signal multiplied by Y) is the signal to which the input signal to X is attenuated according to Level and then the Offset voltage is applied.Therefore, if you set Level = 0 and turn Offset from the center to the right, the Y signal itself will be attenuated and output from the W output. If you turn Offset from the center to the left, the Y signal will be inverted and attenuated and output. (If you want to invert the X input, use the Inv switch.) If you raise the Level from 0 here, the ring modulation sound that is the product of X and Y will be mixed with the original sound (input Y).

The Level knob can boost the X input as well as attenuate it. With some boost, the X input signal will clip, creating a warm, overdriven sound. By adding Offset, it is possible to clip only the upper side or lower side of the X input signal.

Using the EXP switch will transform the input to X into an exponential characteristic that will always be multiplied by the Y signal as a positive signal. At this time, if you input an envelope etc., it can be used as an exponential VCA with an offset that uses the Level control as an attenuator.
