This is a patch converter that can be used to exchange signals between a synthesizer in a format that uses banana plugs and a synth such as a Eurorack that uses a 3.5mm plug. The voltage patched to each banana jack can be taken out from the corresponding 3.5mm jack (and vice versa).
However, since both systems need to have a common ground, you must patch the ground of the banana side to the bottom ground banana jack before using it. For example, with a Buchla Music Easel, you patch the ground jack on the case to the ground jack on the Pont-Neuf with a banana cable.
