MUSICAL FEATURES

LINNAEUS is Rossum's new stereo state variable filter, which continues Dave Rossum's innovation in filter technology and the tradition of Evolution and Morpheus. Unique to linearly modulate to negative frequenciesThrough Zero FMIt has a function. Through Zero FM is a feature usually implemented in oscillators, and implemented in filters is a very unique example.
In LINNAEUS, the filterVoltage control of response curve is also possibleso,Variable from low pass to band pass, high pass, notch, low shelving and high shelving independently and continuously. This allows you to create delicate and dramatic timbre effects. The voltage control of the response can be selected independently for each of the two channels, and is also effective for stereo effects.

Linear Through Zero FMBuilt-in modulation oscillatorThis can be done from either the or external control signal. The frequency of the Modulation Oscillator can either follow the exponential frequency of the filter or operate independently. The output waveform of the modulation oscillator changes continuously from off to sine, triangle, saw, and square. The output of the modulation oscillator is applied to an external linear FM input and then goes through a VCA for index (FM strength) control.Voltage control of index is also possible.

Also, as a bonus function for Linnaeus, a short envelope or pulse is input to the filter to oscillate and used as a sound sourcePingingModes are available. Press and hold the Track button or press twice to enter Ping mode. Ping itself can be done with any filter, but Linnaeus has a modulation function suitable for percussion sound sources such as through zero FM, so you can create a very wide range of tones with Pinging. In Pinging mode,Ping oscillatorAppears and uses thisIt pings at the audio rate and behaves essentially like an oscillator. See also the Inteface section below for the role of each part in Ping mode
Other features include:
  • Ultra wide frequency range, accurate 1V / OCT input and CV input with attenuator enable exponential voltage control from sub audio to ultrasonic.
  • Thru-zero linear frequency modulation with modulation oscillator or external linear FM input
  • Linear FM index with voltage controllable by CV input with attenuator
  • Q can be controlled exponentially from 6 dB to over 0 dB by 60 dB / V input and CV input with attenuverter.
  • The characteristics can be continuously controlled for each of the two channels. Characteristics include lowpass (2db / oct and 12db / oct), bandpass, highpass (6db / oct and 12db / oct), notch, low / high shelving.
  • This characteristic can also be voltage controlled by the Attenuated CV input. The individual response CV Enable controls allow you to independently enable or disable the response CV controls for each channel.
  • A modulation oscillator whose waveform changes continuously from off to sine, triangle, saw, and square. Attenuated CV inputs allow exponential voltage control of frequency.
  • Track control in which the modulation oscillator follows the filter frequency exactly
  • Stereo Input / Output You can process a stereo signal or two independent mono signals. The two channels share the cutoff / resonant frequency of the filter, but the response characteristics of the filter can be controlled independently for each channel.
