MUSICAL FEATURES

Rainmaker is a 16-tap rhythmicStereo delayStereocom resonatorThis is a high-quality effect module equipped with two sections. Both sections have an effect that is made by overlapping the "tap" that delays the input sound and outputs it, but the com resonator is mainly obtained by overlapping the audio rate and a very short time delay according to it. It is a section aimed at the effect that can be achieved. It is converted to a 2 kHz, 96-bit digital signal and internally processed with 24-bit. It has 32 preset storages and can set all parameters or some randomly.

* What is Stereocom Resonator?
When the signal passed through the delay taps is added to the input signal, they will be boosted or canceled depending on the frequency of the input signal.Comb filter frequency responseCan get The stereo comb resonator creates a very deep and resonant comb filtering effect by stacking up to 64 such delay taps. As long as the delay time is increased, the com resonator can be used as it is.echoIt will be effective. When the delay time is short and the feedback is strong, the sound source is called Karplus-Strong type synthesis.

interface

Rainmaker consists of elements such as buttons, OLED displays, LEDs, regular knobs, rotary encoders and jacks. Many buttons are shown on the display and are used to select the parameters to be edited. The buttons such as FX ON, MUTE and EDIT / TAP # are buttons for changing the Rainmaker mode and status. There are also buttons with special functions such as tap tempo, CLEAR and TRIGGER. There are 8 large knobs in all, and you can directly control important parameters. The small black knob is an attenuator for the CV input to the corresponding jack.

To set parameters, select the parameter you want to set with the button, and change or confirm by rotating and pushing the rotary encoder.

The explanation of each part is displayed by mouse over

Voltage control

Rainmaker allows voltage control of the parameters in the above two sections. In the delay section, the amount of feedback, pitch shift of all taps, and feedback path filtering (Tone) can be voltage controlled. In the comb resonator section, the comb size (delay time) and feedback amount can be voltage controlled. There are also two assignable modulation inputs, MOD A / B, allowing you to assign different modulation destinations to each preset. The trigger input can be set for various purposes, and can be selected from the built-in noise burst trigger that can be used as the signal input of the resonator, freeze of the delay input, reverse of the delay, randomization of parameters, mute of taps, etc.

HOW TO USE

Stereo rhythmic delay section parameters and editing method

Rhythmic delay parameter settings
The rhythmic delay parameters can be set using the blue and white buttons on the top left of the module, and the rotary encoder. The functions of the blue and white buttons areEdit modeOrTap number modeIt depends on You can switch between these two modes by pressing the EDIT / TAP # button on the upper left. There are many parameters, but there are settings that can be set for each tap and settings that are common to all taps.
  • Tap number modeNow, select the tap parameter you want to edit from the white TAP EDIT button group, select the tap to edit with the blue button, and turn the rotary encoder to set the parameter for each tap individually.
  • Edit modeAllows you to edit parameters common to all taps. Select the parameter you want to edit with the blue buttons for each section, such as "CLOCK" and "FEEDBACK", and turn the rotary encoder to set it.
Also in this mode,Edit parameters for each tap all at onceYou can also do:
    • -Select the parameter for each tap you want to set from the white TAP EDIT button group, press the rotary encoder once, then turn it to set the parameter for each tap to the same value for all taps.
    • -Select the parameter for each tap you want to set from the white TAP EDIT button group, press the rotary encoder twice and then rotate it, and you can set the tap-by-tap parameter between taps at once. Rotate the rotary encoder to select the inclination.
The stereo rhythmic delay parameters and setting methods are as follows.

Parameters that can be set for each tap
  • Each tap has a 16-tap rhythmic delay2 Pole filter and granular pitch shifterHave. Besides that,Panning, level, muteCan also be set for each individual tap.
  • The tap filters have different resonances and cutoff frequencies, selectable low pass, high pass, band pass, and can be bypassed (not filtered).
  • Granular pitch shift can be set from 15 semitones up to 16 semitones down.

Parameters common to all taps: Delay time & groove
  • Each tap has a different delay time,Tap 1 has the shortest delay time, tap 16 has the longest delay timeIt will be.
  • Instead of setting the delay time of each tap individually, 16 preset patterns (GrooveIt is called). For example, if Groove is "Straight", the delay time of tap 2 is twice that of tap 1, tap 2 is 3 times ... When Groove becomes "Swing", the delay time of even-numbered taps is delayed compared to the case of Straight, so that you can get the groove of the swing delay. The groove list ismanualPlease refer to
  • The overall delay time base is
    • Blue button + encoder in CLOCK section
    • Tap tempo
    • External clock
It can be set by any of. AlsoGRIDThe parameter also changes the overall delay time
  • The total delay time can be modulated by an LFO that can select 8 waveforms. Use the TIME MOD section buttons and encoder to make modulation settings.
  • The delay time range is0.1 ms to 20 seconds.

Parameter common to all taps: Feedback
  • The delay feedback can either return one of the 16 taps (before filtering) or the filtered signal with the 1 taps combined. It is set by the blue "TAP #" button in the FEEDBACK section. Also, you can stagger the feedback time with the "SLIP" button in the section.
  • The delay feedback path has an independent granular pitch shifter and 1 Pole filter (low pass or high pass). Pitch shift is set with the blue PITCH button in the FEEDBACK section. The feedback filter is set by the large blue knob of "FEEDBACK TONE".
  • The amount of feedback can be controlled with the dedicated "DELAY FEEDBACK" knob. Voltage control is also possible.

Other parameters and settings common to all taps
  • The granular pitch shift setting used for pitch shift for each tap isGRAIN sectionIt is possible with You can select from 1, 2, or 4 grains and adjust the grain size.
  • The audio input to the delay isFreezeYou can prevent it from being updated or you can reverse it. Freezing is possible by pressing the ROUTING + CONFIG button in the upper right three times to freeze the control target of the Trigger button signal.
  • "RAND"You can randomize various parameters with the blue button. You can randomize by pressing RAND, selecting the randomizing destination parameter with the encoder, and pushing.
  • You can stack multiple taps with the same delay time(PILE). The delay time of one pile is the delay time of the tap with the highest number among the taps included in the pile (longest delay time). If you set different pitches for taps in the pile, it will move with one delay timeCodesYou can also make Complex filtering delays are also possible.
  • The blue PITCH SHIFT knob also allows you to pitch shift all taps simultaneously (+/- 1 octave).

Features of Stereo Resonant Comb Filter Section

  • Up to 64 taps are available to create complex resonances
  • Various frequency shaping is possible with three different feedback structures
  • When delay is short and feedback is strongKarplus-Strong type synthesisCalled a sound source, triggering the built-in noise burst etc.Sounds like strings playedYou can put out. Create physically modeled guitar, sitar, or clarinet-like sounds
  • The relationship between the delay times of the 64 taps can be specified with 16 preset patterns, which determine the tone of the resonator and the rhythm of the echo when used as an echo.
  • The longest tap is fed back to the input.
  • The overall delay time (corresponding to the size of the comb) is set by the rotary encoder, external clock, and voltage control of 1V / Oct. there is no).
  • Overall delay time can be modulated by LFO with 8 waveforms selectable
  • Time can be set from 0.1 ms to 20 seconds

Parameter setting of com resonator

The parameters of the comb resonator can be set by selecting with the black button and turning the rotary encoder.

Utility settings

The four red buttons on the top right allow you to set various settings, set the meter display, and save and load settings to presets. The "ROUTING CONFIG" button has different setting items depending on the number of times it is pressed. You can also set trigger events and stereo settings in addition to the delay and comb resonator routing settings.
