Industrial Music Electronics Tyme Sefari Mk II (Model 1973)

¥57,090 (Tax excluded ¥51,900)
An audio memory module that can be used for various purposes such as delays and samplers by recording and playing audio in various ways.
Format: Eurorack
Width: 15HP
Depth: 42mm
Current: 80mA @ + 12V, @ -12V

JACKS and KNOBS

Load/Save Button

Press the Save button to temporarily stop the audio and save the contents of the memory. If the "WRITE PROTECT" jumper on the back of the board is ON, you will not be able to save. Call the contents of the memory with the Load button. If you hold down the TAP TEMPO button and press the Load button, the contents of the memory will be cleared.

Transport Switches

Transport-related switches for playback and recording. When it is up, it is "ON".From the left, DIR is the playback direction, LOOP (mode to set the loop with the slider below) on / off, recording on / off, and playback on / off. However, REC is effective only when playback is ON.

Transport Jack

This is an input jack for controlling transport-related items such as playback and recording with a gate. You can do the same thing as a switch with an on / off gate signal.

Loop Position Section

The upper slider is the slider that sets the loop start position, and the lower slider is the slider that sets the loop end position. Both also have a CV control with an atte inverter. When playback comes to the end of the loop, the LED next to it will illuminate and the trigger will be output from the output in the "Tap Tempo" section.

Input

Signal input and gain.

Feedback

Set the amount of feedback to return the output to the input again. When not patched to the jack, the current output is fed back directly to the input and the amount is controlled by the knob. When patched to the jack, that signal is mixed into the input. You can process the feedback sound by processing the output signal with another module and then patching it to this input.

Time

When the switch is turned on, the tap tempo mode is set and the loop slider is disabled, and the loop playback length is determined by the tap timing.Instead of pressing the tap button, you can also decide the tap by turning on / off the gate signal to the input.

output

There are two output jacks, the top is the Dry / Mix signal with a knob, and the bottom is the Wet signal output.Either can be used for feedback.

Sampling frequency control

A knob to control the sampling frequency and a CV control (with an atte inverter). This also changes the sampling time. The maximum frequency is 16kHz, and at this time, samples can be recorded and played back for up to 4 seconds.

When you move the cursor to the screen, the role of each part is displayed in a pop-up.

MUSICAL FEATURES

Tyme Sefari is an audio buffer module designed for live sampling.By using various controls properlyOne-shot sampler, delay,Pseudo time stretcherIt can be used for a wide range of purposes. Each transport such as loop, direction, recording / playback, etc. can be controlled by a gate signal or switch.Sampling frequency is up to 16kHz (controllable with knobs and CV), up to 16bit (Sound of ThunderCan be changed using). At the break of the sampleGlitchIt may be easy to make noise, which is one of the design characteristics of this module.

Transport control

With Tyme Sefari, you can use toggle switches and gate signals to perform transport-related operations for recording and playback.

Audio buffer transport

The playback / recording point on the audio buffer (where the audio is stored) returns to the first position when it reaches the end of the buffer, and operates in a loop. When the PLAY switch or the corresponding gate signal is ON, the contents of the memory are sent to the output and the playback position advances. The yellow LED is lit in this mode. When the REC switch or gate is ON, new audio data is taken from the input and written to memory. The red LED is lit in this mode. The DIR switch and jack indicate the direction of playback / recording and can be changed in real time.

The SAMPLING FREQUENCY knob and CV control the playback and recording speeds. Recording will not be performed unless PLAY is ON. PLAY is the master control for transport operations.

When the LOOP switch or gate is ON, the range of playback and recording on the buffer is limited. Use the START and END sliders to determine the recording / playback range. When START is behind END, playback / recording isReverse directionIs done.TAP TEMPO toggle switchWhen is turned ON, the START / END slider is disabled and the loop length is determined by the TAP TEMPO button and gate signal.

In any mode, when the end of the loop is reached, the orange LED near the slider will illuminate and a trigger signal will be output from the TAP TEMPO OUTPUT jack.

The four transport controls can be controlled with switches or gate signals, and the gate input isAudio rateBut it reacts.

how to use

One-shot sampler
This is a one-shot mode in which the sample is played by turning off the Play switch and inserting a gate into the P gate input. When using it like this, it will automatically return to the starting point.
delay
Raise "FEEDBACK" to turn on the LOOP, PLAY, and REC switches (or turn on the gate signal). The position of the LOOP slider determines the length of the delay. If you hear unwanted glitches in the slider settings, use TAP TEMPO for more delicate control of the loop position.
THRU-ZERO DRONE
Play part of the recording.Put a square wave of audio rate into the D (ir) input. This will give you a thick chorus-like drone sound. Adjust the Sampling Frequency to control the pitch of the tone. Also, adjust the pitch of the square wave.
Pseudo time stretching
Turn on the loop to play a part of the recording. Move the START slider to the left and the END slider close to it so that a very short loop is played. Now enter a slowly descending LFO into the START and END CV inputs with the same amount of attenuation. Try adjusting by changing the speed of the LFO.
