MUSICAL FEATURES

Steppy is a 4-track gate sequencer module. Equipped with 8 memory slots, synchronization with an external clock, and various sequence options, it is designed to be powerful in performance.
  • The sequence step length can be set for each track, and you can drive up to 64 steps.
  • The gate length can be set for each track, and it is also possible to connect the gate from the short trigger to the next step (Tie).
  • Clock division is possible for each track.
  • Swing can be set for each track
  • Gate delay can be set for each track
  • Gate ON probability can be set for each track
  • It is possible to shift the sequence back and forth for each track
  • Repeatedly hits with a resolution higher than each step for each track and each step (Ratcheting)You can do
  • Type a pattern by pressing the button in real timeTap recordingIs also possible
  • You can easily create a fill-like sequence by selecting a part of the entire sequence and temporarily looping it.
  • Copy and paste between patterns and pages is possible

MEASUREMENTS

Play / Select / Edit Mode

There are 3 modes in Steppy, and the role of the 16 central buttons changes in each mode.
Play Mode
When neither the Select Mode LED nor the EDIT Mode LED is lit, it is in Play Mode. At this time, the center button edits the gate sequence. Each track has a maximum of 64 steps, and segments (16PagesIt is divided by each) and the pattern of the track / page selected in Select mode described later is displayed. Press the button to set ON / OFF of the gate at each step. If you also want to set a step as the last step, press and hold that button for 1 second to make that step the last and change the sequence length for that track.
select mode
When you press the Select Mode button and the Select Mode LED is lit, you are in Select Mode. At this time, the center button performs the function written on each button with a black background.

On the left side, TRACK A to D are for selecting the tracks to be edited and displayed.
Pages 1: 4 to 4: 4 on the left side select the page to be edited / displayed.
The upper four tracks on the right side ("x") are muted for each track.
The four on the lower right side are from top to bottom
  • Whether or not to follow the page: Select whether to display the currently sequenced page or keep displaying the selected page
  • Loopy mode: In Loopy mode, all four tracks will only loop in that range while holding down the end button of that part of the sequence. When you release the button, it will return to the position where it should be in the original sequence, so you can easily create a fill.
  • RESET: Press to reset all sequences to their original position. The same operation as when a trigger is input to the RST jack
  • CLR: Clears the sequence of the selected track. Pressing the button once briefly removes all gates that are on, but does not delete other track parameters such as delay or swing. Pressing and holding for 1 second will also delete and initialize those parameter settings from that track.
.
Edit Mode
When you press the EDIT Mode button and the EDIT Mode LED is lit, you are in Edit Mode. In Edit Mode, you can change the gate length, clock division number, and swing settings for each track. To make track and page selection easier, you can select a track or page by pressing the Select Mode button while in Edit Mode. After selecting, press the Select Mode button again to return to the normal Edit Mode without pressing the Edit Mode button.

The subscript on the right button corresponds to the sequence parameter to be edited for each track. Press the button of the parameter you want to edit to select it, and press the button on the left to change that parameter value in 8 steps. When selecting a value, long press the selected left button,All 4 tracksYou can apply the selected parameters to at once. The details of each parameter are as follows.
  • GATE: Sets the output gate length of the selected track. If you press the top left button, the length will be the same as the input clock. If you select the second from the top, the gate will be a short pulse, and the gates from the third onwards will be longer. When you press the button at the bottom, the gate will be exactly the length between steps and will be connected to the next step (tie).
  • CLK ÷: Divide the sequence clock into a slow sequence. The eight buttons have a larger divide as they go down, in order: / 8, / 1, / 2, / 3, / 4, / 8, / 16, / 32.
  • SWING: Set the swing amount for each track. The eight buttons have larger swings toward the bottom, 8% (no swing), 50%, 54%, 58%, 62%, 66%, 70%, 75% from the top.
  • DELAY: トラックごとにシーケンス全体を(1ステップの範囲内で)遅らせます。8つのボタンは下に行くにつれて遅れが大きくなり、左から0%(スイングなし),8%,17%,25%,33%,42%,50%,58%です
  • PROBs: You can set the probability that the gate that is ON on the track will actually be output. Eight buttons have a higher appearance probability as they go down, from the top are 8%, 12.5%, 25%, 37.5%, 50%, 62.5%, 75%, 87.5% (default).
  • SHIFT: Shifts the pattern back and forth in steps for each track. The shift amount set by the 8 buttons is 4 steps before, 3 steps before, 2 steps before, 1 step before, 1 step after, 2 steps after, 3 steps after, and 4 steps after.
  • SAVE: Press the SAVE button to save the pattern. You can save up to eight, and select the save destination preset with the left button. Unsaved patterns will be lost when you turn off the power, so be sure to save the patterns you want to recall next time.
  • LOAD: Press the LOAD button to recall the pattern. Use the left button to select the recalled pattern from the maximum of eight patterns that have been saved.

Ratcheting

Ratcheting is a function to perform continuous hits at a speed shorter than 1 step in 1 step. Ratcheting can be set for each track and step.

To set ratcheting, select the track and page you want to edit and press and hold the Edit button to enter ratcheting setting mode. Press the button to select the step for which you want to set ratcheting. Select the number of consecutive ratcheting strokes in the reverse order of the selected button. From the top, 1 (no ratcheting), 2,3,4,6,8,12, random.

When the ratchet number of a certain step is set, you can edit the ratchet number of that step as it is by selecting the step on the same step. To set a step in a different step, press the Edit button once to return to the step selection state, then select the step you want to edit. When selecting a step, hold down the step you want to copy the ratchet number and press the step you want to paste to change the ratchet number.CopyI can do it. Press and hold the Edit button again to exit ratcheting setting mode

Tap recording

With Steppy, you can also tap-record by hitting a pattern while pressing a button in real time. Press the Edit button to get out.

In tap recording mode, 16 buttons are divided into 4 segments. Press the 4 buttons on the upper left to actually program the gate ON for each track in real time. The four buttons on the right and upper right are for deleting the gate. The gate on the step passed while you are pressing is deleted. The four buttons on the lower left light up when each track returns to step 4, and the four buttons on the lower right display the sequence briefly.

Copy between tracks and pages

Copy and paste between tracks and pages is done in Select mode. Parameters such as swing and gate probability are not copied.

In Select mode, hold down the button of the track that contains the original pattern you want to copy, and then press the button of the destination track you want to copy. Similarly, when copying between pages, press the button for the copy destination page while pressing the copy source page.
