MUSICAL FEATURES

Launch Codes is a compact gate driving tool sequencer suitable for performance. In addition to a simple control mode that outputs a gate signal and a trigger signal from five channels in real time by pushing a button, there is a sequencer mode that quantizes the timing of the typed sequence and loops it. It is possible to do and chain.

There is also a special mode that controls / modulates the sequence with CV, which also supports the creation of patterns that are rich in changes.

MEASUREMENTS

Launch Codes has the following operation modes in addition to the normal sequencer mode and other operation modes, which are accessed by operating the buttons on the top.
  • Option setting mode (press Opt button once in operating mode):
In the option setting mode, set different items for each of the 5 buttons. The setting items are as on the panel.
    • -"MODE"Operation modeTheControl mode (LED off) / sequencer mode (LED lit) / special sequencer mode (LED blinking)Choose from. For details of each operation mode, refer to the following explanation
    • -"LENGTH" sets the length of the sequence. The LED status of the button differs depending on the length, and the LED is off (8 steps), LED is lit (16 steps), and LED is blinking (32 steps).
    • -"GENERATE" presses a button to make a random change to the current pattern. If you do not perform other operations, you can return to the original pattern by holding down the Clear button and pressing the Genrate button.
    • -Press "LOAD" for over 1 second to load the setting or sequence in memory.
    • -Press "SAVE" for more than 1 second to save all sequences, mute status, pattern chains, settings, etc. in internal memory.
  • Output signal type setting mode (press Opt button twice in operating mode):
You can change the output signal type for each channel, and press the button for each channel to switch the setting. The setting of each channel is represented by how the button lights up,
    • -Off: Press the button to output the trigger
    • -Illuminated: Outputs a gate that remains ON while the button is pressed
    • -Blinking: ON / OFF switching by pressing the button (latch) Gate signal
    .
  • Pattern mode (press Patt once in operating mode):
In this mode, you can create up to 5 patterns and copy or chain them. For details on pattern mode, refer to the description in Sequencer mode.

How to use for each operation mode

The contents of each operation mode are as follows. As above, press Opt once (Opt LED lit) to change the operating mode in the option settings, then press the Opt button again (Opt LED off) to start playing.

Control mode
If the MODE "button is off in the option settings,Control modeWill be. It operates by pressing the button and outputting the gate / trigger signal of the set type in real time.

Sequencer mode
If the "MODE" button is lit in the option settings,Sequencer modeIs selected. The button operation for the step set with the Length button is recorded, quantized, and looped for playback. If you do not like the recorded pattern, hold the Clear button and press the button of the channel you want to clear. The created sequence can be chained or memorized by entering the pattern mode. In Sequencer mode, hold down the Opt button and press the button for each channel.muteIs possible. The mute state is subject to saving. Even if muted, pressing the button will output the gate and trigger, but will not record the sequence.

When you press the Patt button, the Patt LED lights up,Pattern modeI will enter. One of the five patterns currently selected lights up. When you press a button with a different pattern, that button will begin to flash, and the pattern will actually transition the moment the current pattern returns to step 5.

In pattern mode, clearing a pattern is completed by pressing the button of each pattern while pressing the Clear button. If you do the same operation immediately after that, you can undo the clear. You can also copy a pattern by pressing the button of a certain pattern while pressing the Patt button in pattern mode, and then paste the pattern by pressing a button of another pattern while pressing the Patt button.

In pattern modePattern chainIs also possible. If you press multiple buttons corresponding to some patterns, the patterns will be played in the order in which they were pressed.

Special CV mode
When the "MODE" button is flashing in the option settings, it operates as the special CV mode. In this mode, the functions other than reset input are the same as the normal sequencer mode, and the sequence data is also common. In special mode, the reset input does not function as a reset, but becomes the CV input to control the sequence. CV can be assigned to any of the following functions.
  • The randomness of the sequence. Sequences normally at 0V, and the output sequence changes randomly as the higher voltage is applied
  • The playback part of the sequence. Play back the first step at 0V and the next step at higher voltage
  • Sequence freeze. Loop from the step specified by voltage to the last step
Please refer to the following special settings for the assignment method.

Special settings
In the option setting mode where you press opt, press and hold the MODE button to make advanced settings. In the special setting mode, the 5 buttons work as follows.
  • Mode button: A button to manually reset the sequence
  • Length button: Increasing the length of the sequence will duplicate the existing pattern by default, but don't do this
  • Generate button: Assigns randomness to the CV in special CV mode
  • Load button: Assign the CV to control the playback part of the sequence in special CV mode
  • Save button: In the special CV mode, loop only from the step corresponding to the CV to the back
