MUSICAL FEATURES

The Cnoc is a fully analog, voltage-controlled, two-stage function generator.Born from the West Coast sound synthesis philosophy, this kind of function generator goes far beyond the capabilities of traditional envelope generators. With 2 modes (AR, ASR, Looping), positive unipolar output and bipolar output, the Cnoc is ready for any patch.

  • AR, ASR, Looping, 3 envelope modes
  • External control of attack and release stages
  • Positive unipolar and bipolar, two outputs
  • Assignable gate output
  • Manual trigger button
  • Slew limiter function
  • Two response curve settings

Patch Examples

West Coast Synth Voice

Overview: At the same time the sequencer sends a voltage to the oscillatorCNCTrigger theCNC OfUnipolarThe output opens a wavefolder to pass the oscillator signal.

Audio path:

  • Patch the oscillator's sine wave to the wavefolder's audio input.
  • Monitor the wavefolder output.
  • Sets the wavefolder fold amount to the minimum value.
  • Set the wavefolder symmetry bias to any position.

Control pathway:

  • Patch the 1V/Oct output of the sequencer to the 1V/Oct input of the oscillator.
  • sequencer gate outputSignal Inpatch to
  • Fashionthe switchARmode.
  • Response curveSet the switch to any position.
  • UnipolarPatch the output to the wavefolder's CV input and set the corresponding CV attenuator to any position.
  • ア タ ッ クreleaseset each fader to the desired position.

East Coast Synth Voice

Overview: As the keyboard sends voltage to the oscillatorCNCTrigger theCNC OfUnipolarThe output opens the filter and VCA to pass the oscillator signal. To create a more traditional East Coast patch, separateCNCUse modules.

Audio path:

  • Patch any waveform output of the oscillator to the audio input of the filter.
  • Patch the filter's audio output to the VCA's audio input.
  • Monitor the VCA's audio output.
  • Sets the base frequency of the oscillator to any position.
  • Set the cutoff frequency of the filter to any position.
  • Set the filter resonance to any position.
  • Set the VCA level to minimum.
Control pathway:
  • Patch the keyboard's 1V/Oct output to the oscillator's 1V/Oct input.
  • keyboard gate outputSignal Inpatch to
  • Fashionthe switchASRmode.
  • Response curveSet the switch to the right position.
  • UnipolarConnect the output to multiple.
  • CNCpatch one copy of the CV signal from the filter to the cutoff CV input of the filter and set the corresponding CV attenuator to the desired position.
  • CNCConnect a second copy of the CV signal from the VCA to the CV input of the VCA and set the corresponding CV attenuator to the desired position.
  • ア タ ッ クreleaseset each fader to the desired position.

CV Slew Limiter

Overview: mentioned aboveWest Coast Synth VoiceA patch that fits thethe voltage of the sequencerCNCCreates a portamento (glide) effect between successive notes by being smoothed via

Audio path:

  • Patch the oscillator's sine wave to the wavefolder's audio input.
Control pathway:
  • Instead of directly patching the sequencer's 1V/Oct output to the oscillator's 1V/Oct input,CNC OfSignal Inpatch to
  • FashionSet the switch to the left position to select ASR mode.
  • Response curveSet the switch to any position. If we choose the left position linear response, the result is more obvious.
  • UnipolarConnect the output to the 1V/Oct input of the oscillator.
  • ア タ ッ クreleaseset each fader to the desired position.ア タ ッ クfader sets the amount of portamento between rising notes, releaseFader sets the amount of portamento between falling notes.

Quadrature Modulation

Overview: This patch is for twoCNCUse the.The first CNC is configured to generate a one-shot triangle wave function. The second, with the gate signal generated by the release stage set to produce a one-shot triangular wave, just like the first.CNCTrigger thethe secondCNCThe gate signal generated by the release stage of the retriggers the first CNC.Circular patching in this manner creates two triangle waves that are 90 degrees out of phase with each other.twoCNCcontinue to re-trigger each other continuously. One triangle wave controls the amount of wavefolding and the other modulates the amount of filtering, creating an orthogonal dual tone modulation.

Audio path:

  • Patch the oscillator's sine wave to the wavefolder's audio input.
  • Patch the wavefolder's audio output to the filter's audio input.
  • Monitor the audio output of the filter.
  • Sets the base frequency of the oscillator to any position.
  • Sets the fold amount of the wavefolder to any position.
  • Set the wavefolder symmetry bias to any position.
  • Set the cutoff frequency of the filter to any position.
  • Set the filter resonance to any position.
Control pathway:
  • twoCNC OfResponse curveSet the switch to the left position to select a linear response curve.
  • twoCNC OfFashionSet the switch to the left position,ARSelect a mode.
  • twoCNC Ofア タ ッ クfader andreleaseSet the faders to equal positions to create two triangle wave functions.
  • twoCNC Ofstage gateSet the switch to the right position to create a gate signal generated by each release stage.
  • the firstCNC OfGatethe output of the second CNCSignal InConnect to.
  • the secondCNC OfGateOutput from the first CNCSignal InConnect to.
  • the firstCNC OfUnipolarConnect the output to the wavefolder's CV input to control the amount of folding.Set the corresponding CV attenuator to any position.
  • the secondCNC OfUnipolarConnect the output to the FM input of the filter and set the corresponding FM attenuator to any position.
