MUSICAL FEATURES

Spherical Wavetable Navigator (SWN) is a 6-channel polyphonic synthesizer voice that allows you to easily create polyphonic melodies, chords, and rich texture sounds from slow morphing drones. For SWNTwo VCOsIs installed, you can control the pitch, volume, and waveform individually. In addition6 LFOsSince it is installed and can be used as a modulation or envelope, this onePolyphonic sequence soundIt is possible to generate Each channel can be used not only as a simple VCO but also as a synth voice, and can also have 6 buttons lined up at the top, internal LFOs, and triggers that detect 1V / Oct pitch changes.

All knobs are endless knobs that can be pushed, and by pressing and turning, you can control the secondary functions written in the golden back caption. You can also set parameters for each channel by turning the knob while pressing the channel button. By displaying pitch and waveform information with such a unified interface and LEDs, many parameters can be controlled quickly and easily without a menu.

SWNWave tableTo call the oscillator waveform. You can also assign different waveforms to each VCO. The wavetable is in the shape of a virtual sphere, and the position in the sphere is specified by specifying the distance (Depth), latitude (Latitude), and longitude (Longitude) from the center, and the waveform stored in that waveform is stored. Is called. It will morph smoothly between waveforms, and if you keep turning the knob, it will return to the original waveform and morph in the same way. The SWN is shipped with 12 wavetables,Own wavetableIs also easy to create. Wavetables can be created from the audio recorded on SWN just by operating on the main unit, or using free SphereEdit software running on Mac, Linux, Windows.
Odd channels are output to the left and even channels are output to the right. In the case of mono output, if you patch only the right output, all channels will be mixed.
    * From July 2019, the firmware will be v7, with the following additional functions. See "How To Use" for more information.
    • Addition of CV / Gate mode that can be triggered by gate for each voice
    • Addition of function to lock parameters for each channel
    • Addition of recording function for each waveform

    HOW TO USE

About combo operation of buttons and knobs

SWN often uses a combination of buttons and knobs, but it follows the following rules.
    • Rotating or pushing a parameter knob alone will change that parameter on all six oscillators or LFOs. To set a VCO or LFO parameter for a specific channel, hold down the corresponding mute button and operate the parameter knob. For multiple channels, press multiple mute buttons while operating.
    • It is possible to lock each channel so that the voice and LFO are not affected by turning the parameter knob.Firmware v2 or later). To lock, hold Fine and press the mute button of the channel you want to lock. Locking locks almost all VCO / LFO parameters for that channel and no longer reflects the movement of the knobs. Only the 1V / Oct jack, slider and mute button work the same whether locked or unlocked. Individual parameters can be adjusted while pressing the mute button even on locked channels
    • To control the parameters of the letters on the gold background, press and turn the knob
    • To control a small amount of a parameter, hold Fine and turn the parameter knob. It is also effective for each channel operation
    • To reset a VCO or LFO parameter press the Preset button and the corresponding button
For the details of the combo operation, manualSee also Button Combo Chart on last page.

    Pitch control

All pitch-related parameters below can be set for each channel or independently for each channel. To set for each channel, hold down the button corresponding to that channel (s) and turn (or hold down) the knob of the corresponding parameter.

    • Octave: Raises or lowers the pitch of a channel in octaves
    • Transpose: Raises or lowers the pitch of a channel in semitone steps
    • Fine + Transpose: Raises or lowers the pitch of the channel in minute increments
    • Scale: Select the scale to be quantized for the scale: Major, Minor, Chromatic, No Quantize.
    • Spread: Create the following chord by separating the relative pitch between the channels.

       1: No Transposition
       2-4: Fifths
       5-7: Major Thirds
       8-10: Minor Thirds
       11-13: MAJOR SIXTHS
       14-16: Major Sevenths
       17: Major nine chord
       18: Major eleventh chord
       19-21: MINOR SIXTHS
       22-24: MINOR SEVENTHS
       25: Minor nine chord
       26: MINOR ELEVENTH CHORD
    • Fine Spread (Fine + Spread): Raises and lowers the relative pitch between channels in minute increments (useful for unison etc.)
    • 1V / oct jack: 1V / Oct input for scale control of each channel
    • Transpose Jack: Global 1V / Oct input
    • Spread CV Jack: Global spread CV control for chord selection
The LED outer ring displays the octave status of each VCO when you press the Octave knob, and the pitch status that reflects the Transpose and Spread of each VCO when you press the Transpose knob.

Press Preset and Octave to reset the octave, press Preset and Transpose to reset Transpose and Spread, and hold Preset and Fine to press Transpose to reset fine tuning.

    LFO / envelope control

All LFO related parameters can be set for each channel or independently for each channel. To set for each channel, hold down the button corresponding to that channel (s) and turn (or hold down) the knob of the corresponding parameter.

    • LFO output jack: Each channel has its own LFO / envelope output jack.If you want to control the volume of the VCO of the same channel, you can also press the LFO-> VCA button without patching.
    • LFO Speed: Tempo control for each LFO. It is possible to synchronize to the same size / divided (Div / Mult) of the main clock. If you don't want to sync, use the LFO speed fine control. It works in the LFO audio range as well, and the speed control is adjusted in semitone steps.
    • LFO Waveform: Choose from 25 LFO waveforms
    • LFO Gain: Controls the size of the LFO. Also useful as an attenuator during self-patching
    • LFO Phase: Adjust the LFO phase (waveform start timing)
    • LFO type button: Select from trigger, gate, and wave shape (waveform selected by LFO Shape)
    • LFO CV Jack: LFO speed control
    • External clock jack: Master clock jack for LFO synchronization
You can reset the waveform by pressing LFO Speed while holding Preset and pressing the LFO Shape while pressing Preset. Press and hold both Preset and LFO Speed / Shape to fully reset the LFO. If you press LFO Speed and LFO Shape at the same time, you can switch between patterns in which the phases of 6 LFOs are aligned and patterns that are offset by 60 degrees.

    Volume control

The volume of each VCO can be controlled with sliders and mute buttons. The slider state is not stored in the preset, but the mute button state is stored in the preset.LFO → VCA buttonIt is also possible to create and save complex polyphonic sequences. By operating while pressing the mute button, you can also determine whether or not there is a keyboard mode or LFO → VCA mode. For each channelIt can be set.
    • slider: The level of each channel can be controlled with a slider
    • Mute button: Mute is possible with the button of each channel
    • Key button: In keyboard mode and note mode, the mute button is used to trigger the envelope of the corresponding channel and make a sound.
    • VCA input jack: The role of the jack can be switched by a switch so that the level of each channel can be controlled with the 1V / oct jack.
    • LFO-> VCA Button: When pressed, the LFO is internally patched for each VCO's level control. It can also be set for each individual channel.
If you press the LFO → VCA button and the LFO shape button at the same time, the function of the mute button push will change, switching to note mode, keyboard mode, CV / Gate mode (firmware v2 or later) and returning to the original mute mode.
    • Note mode: In note mode, VFO modulation by the LFO will not work, and only the VCO whose pitch has been changed by the 1V / Oct signal, Transpose, or Spread will automatically trigger the sound. You can also trigger the sound of each VCO by pressing the corresponding mute button.
    • Keyboard mode: Triggering each VCO with the mute button is the same as in note mode, except that pressing the button does not sustain and it becomes an AD envelope, and the envelope is not automatically triggered when the pitch changes.
    • CV / Gate mode (firmware v2 or later): In this mode, each VCO can be independently triggered externally. The envelope reflects the LFO of the corresponding channel. Jacks such as Waveform In and Dispertion CV are used for the gate input of each voice, changing their roles as follows. The Spread CV jack will be the gate input for all voices.

      * 1 The gate input of a voice whose cable is not inserted into the V / Oct jack is invalid and operates as the original input. For example, Depth can be controlled by CV when not patched to 1V / Oct of the C oscillator.

    Wavetable control

All wavetable related parameters can be set for each channel or independently for each channel. To set each channel, hold down the button corresponding to that channel (multiple selections are possible) and turn (or hold down) the knob of the corresponding parameter.
