MUSICAL FEATURES

Joranalogue Orbit 3 is a classic used in chaos theoryDouble scroll attractorIs a chaos oscillator that provides a signal with natural irregularities with excellent controllability and repeatability by optimizing for the Eurorack modular environment.

Operating in both low-frequency and audio-frequency modes, Orbit 3 produces a variety of waveforms from three output pairs. The voltage at each output varies according to the double scroll attractor configured by the circuitry of this module. The double scroll attractor can be interpreted as representing the orbit of a particle in a three-dimensional space centered on two equilibrium points. In Orbit 3, it's a parameter of this attractor model,Equilibrium point position,Orbital distribution, andMoving SpeedCan all be controlled manually or with an external voltage. The temperature-guaranteed 1V / Oct pitch tracking capability also acts as an eccentric, lively and accurate audio oscillator.

  • Completely analog.3D chaos oscillator with double scroll attractor
  • Achieve intuitive operationVoltage control attractor parameters.. Distribution and position of two scrolls, and Tame / Wild switch
  • Temperature-compensated 1V / Oct pitch tracking
  • Wide frequency range from 2.4mHz (7 minutes) to 22kHz
  • Reset input for modulation sync or hard sync of audio
  • Impedance-corrected amplitude-balanced complementary chaos output with 2-color LED
  • Equilibrium point gate output

HOW TO USE

By providing greater control and repeatability than simple randomness, the Orbit 3 interface, which brings natural irregularities to mechanical music, consists of a simple yet effective set of parameters.

PATCH IDEAS

Chaotic Duet

Use Orbit 3, a gated signal switch, and a single oscillator to create two alternating chaos-modulated voices.Use the selector switch to patch two different waveform outputs. Set Orbit 1 to low frequency mode and modulate the oscillator frequency with one of the Z outputs. Then patch the EP output to the switch's gate input. The switch cycles two waveforms, each modulated with a different center pitch.

Saw Wave Chaos

There are various feedback patches in Orbit 3.For example, by patching one of the X outputs to the Freq input and setting the amount of modulation to maximum, the waveform of the Z output will look like a sawtooth wave instead of a sine wave.Various tones can be obtained by combining the feedback path and output.

Stepped Tone Generator

You can easily find a stable point by experimenting with each parameter during normal operation, but patching the EP output to the reset input will allow Orbit 3 to oscillate stably. You can control the oscillator frequency as usual, but by adjusting the distribution and equilibrium point parameters, the perceived pitch will change in stages in audio frequency mode. For best results, set to Tame mode.
