MUSICAL FEATURES

Pamela's New Work Out is an updated version of Pamela's Work Out, an 8-channel high-performance clock module. While maintaining the conventional operability and functions, functions such as adjustable LFO waveform, non-integer modifier and Euclidean rhythm, 1 channel preset, and 2 freely assignable CV controls have been added. The display is also OLED. You can also connect two optional expanders that convert to Din Sync or MIDI output clocks, improving usability as a master clock.

  • 10 ~ 300 BPM
  • Modifiers can be set independently8 clocksoutput
  • Modifier can be set from / 512 to x48,Fractional ModifierCan also be selected
  • The output clock is not only a simple gate, but also a triangle, a sine, an envelope, a random base, etc.Various waveformsCan be output
  • Adjustable gate height, pulse width, skew, etc.
  • Since the clock phase can be set, even the clocks with the same interval can be specified until they come out. Aside from that, complicated swing settings can be made by delaying the output once every n.
  • Euclidean sequences and skippingBy filtering the output by, you can create a rhythm sequence that exceeds the clock
  • 2 CV inputs, And all parameters related to output for each channel can be assigned. Offset and attenuation for input CV can be set internally for each assignee.
  • Individual output unitBoth presets and global presets can be used
  • Clock start, stop, reset, speed, etc. can be controlled by voltage or manual
  • Can be synchronized with external clock based on 48 to 1 PPQN
  • Sold separatelyexpanderAllows DIN Sync and MIDI clock output. (Pexp-1/Pexp-2)
  • Firmware can be updated from the USB port on the board

How To Use

Basic operation

Synchronization with external clock
To synchronize Pamela with an external clock, enter the external clock on the Clock input on the upper left. To change the default fineness of the external clock to 24PQN, press and hold the Program knob for about 1 second while the BPM is displayed. Next to it is the Run input. The clock runs when the input gate goes high and stops when it goes low. Depending on the setting, it can also be used as a normal reset input.

BPM display mode and modifier display mode
Main BPM is displayed at power onBPM display modeis. When you turn the encoder from BPM display mode, CH1Modifier display mode, CH2 modifier display mode ...

ModifierIs a factor in clock division and multiplication. It is the basis of setting the output rhythm in Pamela to set a clock such as x times or 1 / x times the clock of the speed displayed in BPM for each channel, and this x times or 1 / x This is called a modifier. The modifier is "/ 16" for clock divides that take out the clock once every 1 times, and the modifier = "* 16" for triple multiplication. The new Pamela also supports non-integer modifiers to support dotted notes, tuplets, and more. The default modifier is x = 3, and if BPM = 3, the clock will be output twice per second.

BPM and Modifier edit modes
In the BPM or channel modifier display mode, press the encoder to enter the mode for editing the value of that parameter.

In BPM display mode, press the encoderBPM edit modeThen, turn the encoder to change the BPM and press the encoder again to return to the BPM display mode.

In modifier display mode, pressing the encoderModifier edit modeYou can change the modifier value by turning the encoder. In addition to the usual values such as "/ 16" and "* 1.3", the modifier values can also be selected with the following special settings.
  • -Always on or always off
  • -Setting to output a pulse only at the start
  • -Setting to output pulse only at stop

If you select "CV1" or "CV2", it will be controlled by CV. Control via CV is also possible for all other parameters set per channel. You can also set the offset and attenuation, so please refer to the CV control description below.

Synchronization with external clock
You can use it as a basic clock if you remember the settings so far. If you want to synchronize with an external clock, patch the clock to "Clk", press and hold the encoder from BPM display mode, select the "PPQN" setting, and set PPQN to the appropriate value. For details on PPQN, see "Detailed settings in BPM display mode" below.

Advanced settings

In the BPM and channel modifier display modes, long press the encoder to enter more detailed item edit mode.

Advanced settings in BPM display mode
In BPM display mode, press and hold the encoder to change global settings and manage presets for all channels.
  • PPQN:Sets the relationship between the external clock and the note length. The default 24PPQN (24Pulses per Quarter Note) is set to be a quarter note length when 24 pulses of the external clock are input. Clocks such as DIN SYNC have this setting. When using 4th notes as clocks, select 16PPQN because quarter notes are 4 clocks.
  • RUN ?: Sets whether the RUN input is used to control RUN / STOP at the gate (default) or as reset input
  • SAVE:Saves all 8 current channel settings somewhere in az bank.
  • LOAD:Read entire 8 channel settings from somewhere in az
  • RESET:Restores all 8 channel settings to default

Advanced settings in modifier display mode
In the modifier display mode, you can press and hold the encoder for a long time to set parameters other than modifiers in detail and manage presets for each channel.

  • wave: Select the output waveform from Gate / Triangle / Sine / Envelope / Random. The waveform makes one revolution during one output clock
  • Level:Set the voltage peak of the output clock from 0-100% (100V at 5%)
  • Width:Set the width of the output waveform. When the waveform is an LFO waveform other than gate (square)Corrugated morphingAnd transform it smoothly. Example: triangular wave → sawtooth wave. When the waveform is an envelopeRelease timeSet
  • Phase:Shift the start point of the output waveform. Even if the clock intervals are the same, the timing changes depending on the phase
  • Delay: Delay:After that, the clock output timing can be delayed only once for each number specified by Dly /, and the amount of delay can be specified.
  • Dly /:Specifies how often the clock is delayed by the Delay time. When the modifier is * 1 (or * 4) and Dly / is 2, increasing Delay from 2 produces a typical swing rhythm.
  • Slop:The amount of timing fluctuation can be set
  • EStep: Pamela's New Workout can perform Euclidean filtering on the output clock and output a Euclidean rhythm sequence. At this time, the number of clocks of the loop length is specified by Estep, and the sequence is automatically determined by the Euclidean algorithm so that the number of clocks output in the loop becomes Etrig. ERot allows you to change the start point of the loop
  • Etrig: Etrig: Specifies the number of beats ON in the Euclidean sequence loop
  • ERot: Shift the start point of the Euclidean sequence loop
  • RSkip:Specifies the amount of skip
  • Walk:The number of output clocks before resetting can be set. These apply to random related parameters, Euclidean sequence reset, etc.
  • Save: Save all your current modifiers and advanced settings somewhere in the 1x8 slots a26-z8. Presets a to z correspond to global banks. Saving to the c8 slot will also change the 8 channels of the global c bank of output 8 that you manage by pressing and holding the encoder from the BPM display mode.
  • Load:Load channel settings from any of a1 to z8
  • Reset: Reset:Reset channel settings to default

CV control
Everything except the modifier of each channel and Save / Load / Reset of the parameter accessed from the detailed settings can be assigned to the two CV controls. Attenuverter and offset can also be set internally. It is also possible to assign one system CV to multiple parameters with different attenuvert amounts and offsets. CV2 responds only to positive voltages.

To assign CV, turn the encoder to bring the value into CV1 or CV2 when the screen for setting the value of each parameter is displayed. If you press and hold the encoder here, you can set the strength of the assigned CV (Attn) and the value when CV = 0 (Offst). You can also monitor the CV that is actually input (Value).
