Superbooth is the world's largest electronic musical instrument exhibition held in Berlin, and is a gathering place for synthesizer fans and professionals alike. It started around 20 years ago as part of Frankfurt's Musikmesse, where a small circle of booths showcased unique manufacturers of exotic hardware and modular synths. And in 2016, Superbooth left Musikmesse and relaunched as a new type of specialized trade fair in Berlin in an independent format. The first standalone Superbooth was held at Funkhaus Berlin and since 2017 it has been held at FEZ-Berlin. After a difficult period of closure and reduced holdings during the pandemic, the regular May event has been reinstated in 2022.

Superbooth is characterized by the fact that a large number of small musical instrument manufacturers come together to exhibit, and in addition to product exhibitions, there is a wide variety of programs such as workshops, seminars, and live performances.At these sessions, you'll learn about the latest technology and music production techniques, see the equipment in action in a live performance, and have fun using all five of your senses.

Many new products were announced this year, and attendees were able to experience the latest in modular, outboard, and software. It was an exhibition where you could see new trends in Eurorack's modular synths!

WMD

First of all, congratulations on your comeback! WMD! It was exhibited in a cozy-looking cabin along with the sub-brand AMMT. AMMT is a brand jointly launched by friends at WMD, and it seems to focus mainly on drums and sequencers.

AttentionPerformance Mixer MkIIis scheduled to arrive this fall. Compared to MK I, the sound quality is further improved/noise bleed is reduced (not bad to begin with, but...), panning/crossfader switching, internal modularization with channel stripping, etc., and all jacks are moved to the left. Improved operability by arranging controls, MIDI output of controller movements, an even more extensive expander lineup, etc. Hats off to the overwhelmingly thorough design typical of WMD.

Skorpion, a wave folder, was also seen. AMMT is also planning to release the hi-hat module Clutch.

4ms

And from 4ms, the rumored module,MetaModuleis now available! Software version of Eurorack modular,VCV RackThis is a module equipped with. It is also possible to load patches created with VCV. Macro control by arranging 8 oscillators... Patches that are difficult to overcome in reality are now easy with MetaModule! At present, it seems that more than 200 types of modules can be used. Your dreams will expand. Scheduled for release at the end of August!

Apollo View

From Apollo ViewDivkidsVCA and wave folder created in collaboration withManic! Equipped with two types of wave folders and clipping circuits, and also capable of ring modulation and stereo operation, it seems to be useful for creating the final stage of the voice. I'm looking forward to this Divkid collaboration model, which has many masterpieces! This has just been released!

Black Corporation

And from Japan's Black Corporation, the standalone polysynth "Isenin"(ISE-NIN) Introducing the monophonic version of "Isenin Voice"! You can also see CV expanders. The polyphonic standalone version had digital envelopes, but the module version is all analog.

Knobula

This item is now available at Clockface.Knobulabooth! They were exhibiting a delay module called "Echo Cinematic" that seems easy to use as a final effect and also includes reverb and EQ.

Joranalogue

Joranalogue had a compact triangular core VCO "CYCLE 5" on display. This is an analog oscillator that stands out with the precision that is typical of Joranalogue, such as the Vari Shape that morphs reasonably with sine, triangle, sawtooth, square, and PWM, and the tuning where FINE becomes C in the middle. It is scheduled to be released in the fall or winter of this year.

Xaoc

XAOC Devices exhibited a compact oscillator called "Berlin" that can be linked with the Liebnitz subsystem.

ALM

Although it has already been released, ALM Busy has released a pedal version of MFX, "MFX Pedal" is here!

Shakmat Modular

And Shakmat Modular's booth was amazing with its unique module development that only a modular environment can offer. It's packed with fun modules such as "Bishop's Miscellany MK2" which can record CV gates for each step and further modulate the voltage, "Griffin's Claws" which is a recordable 4-channel attenuator, and "Ballista Blast" which has an analog/digital synth voice!

Olivella

And from Olivella Modular, which updates traditional analog synthesis, there's the "Gravedad," which has a sub-oscillator that can be retriggered by the main oscillator, and the "Duplex," a dual low-pass gate that allows for special switching and click adjustment without using Vactrol. , wave folder "Foldist" with unique features such as Spice circuit were on display!

Tip Top

And Tiptop has unveiled the long-awaited 200t in the Buchla Euro 259 series! It also supports pitch signals from Tiptop's polyphony-compatible tuning system, "ART."

Worng

Worng has a 4 mono + 2 stereo 6 channel VCA mixer.Sidecar! The CV response curve has been tuned, resulting in a punchier response.

Befaco

One of the things that attracted the most attention this time was Befaco's integrated module for drones and ambient music.ONEIROI"! The sound source is various oscillators and loopers, and then passes through various built-in effects. Modulation is also included,You can set the internal attenuator in different modes, so you can enjoy creating a variety of soundscapes with this one unit. It is easy to operate and is likely to become popular.
